Walleyes Hatching

Fry Hatching in an Incubation Jar

For the first two days of their life these tiny walleye fish live off a yoke sack. At first they rarely swim horizontally because they have no swim (air) bladder. They have nearly no fin development, no pigment, no teeth and no scales. It will take approximately one month for them to grow one inch in length. During this first month, their diet is exclusively zooplankton.
